Get your voice memos out of your iPhone.

DeviceDrill opens the iPhone backups on your computer and saves your recordings as normal audio files, named by their title and date. It works with encrypted backups too.

DeviceDrill isn’t out yet. Leave your email and we’ll write once, when the first version is ready.

How it works

  1. Pick a backup

DeviceDrill lists the iPhone backups that Apple Devices or iTunes made on your computer. If a backup is encrypted, enter the password you chose when you turned encryption on.

  2. Find your recordings

See every voice memo with its title, date and length, including ones in folders. Listen to any of them before you save.

  3. Save them

Copy one, a few or all of them to a folder or a USB stick, as ordinary .m4a files with names like 2014-03-12 Grandma singing.m4a.

Nothing leaves your computer

DeviceDrill works offline. There’s no account, no upload and no tracking. It only reads your backups and never changes them, so the copy Apple’s tools made stays exactly as it was.

What comes first

The first version is for Windows and gets voice memos out of existing backups. After that: backing up your iPhone straight from DeviceDrill, text messages, backups made with much older iPhones, and a Mac version.
